SUPERHOT VR

(V1.0.22)

Due to this recent update to the game I did some work to get Version 1.0.22 before it completely disappeared. All downloads of the game will be of 1.022.1 which does not come with the cutscenes and steam will try to update all older versions to the latest update either automatically or at launch.

Due to not wanting to support piracy I have made a guide to downloading version 1.0.22 (instead of a direct download or torrent). This still requires you to own the game as this method directly downloads the old game files from Steam.

Step 1: Download .NET 5.0

Step 2: Download DepotDownloader

https://github.com/SteamRE/DepotDownloader/releases

and extract the files. DepotDownloader is an open-source application that downloads game depots directly from the steam servers, you used to be able to do this directly from the steam client however steam broke this feature a while back.

Step 3: Run DepotDownloader

Step 4: Enter the download command

Copy & Paste the command: dotnet DepotDownloader.dll -app 617830  -depot 617831 -manifest 1718632565497690274 -username <usernamehere> -password <passwordhere>

If you have Steam Guard enabled, you should, it will then prompt you for that code. This application is completely safe and open-source

open the extracted folder and run DepotDownloader.exe

Step 5: Replace SUPERHOT VR files

Firstly you have to download SUPERHOT VR, whichever version it is. Then locate the Steam download location for it, keep it open. Head over to the depots folder created in DepotDownloader and open it until you see the game files. Delete the SUPERHOT VR files inside the "SUPERHOT VR" folder then replace them with the files from the depots folder.

Step 6: Almost there

Lastly set the game to update only when run, can be done in the game properties from your Steam Library. Before you play the game make sure to run steam in OFFLINE mode to prevent Steam from even trying to update the game to not have to repeat the process 

NOTES: 

The developers can always revoke public access to the depot manifest meaning that you cannot officially download the game files. 

You could instead add the game to the Steam client as a non-steam game which will allow you to run the game and never have any update issues.
